Is Your Website Costing You Customers?
Your website isn’t something you just set and forget. It’s a 24/7/365 salesperson—building trust, establishing credibility, and proving why you’re the best choice. A good website turns cold leads into warm ones without you lifting a finger.
Here’s the thing—people are impatient. They want answers instantly. No one wants to dig around for your hours, search for your prices, or call just to ask a simple question. If they can’t find what they need in seconds, they’re gone. This is especially true for younger generations. They aren’t calling or walking in until they’ve screened you online first.
Maybe you’re getting by just fine right now, but if you want to compete in the future, you need to adapt. Younger generations’ spending power is only growing. Millennials are about to lead all generations in spending, and Gen Z’s global spending is set to grow by $9 trillion by 2034—more than any other generation.
This means that soon, your biggest customer base will expect to do business with you online before anywhere else.
Don’t believe me? The data says otherwise.
What makes a Good website vs a bad one?
Most businesses don’t realize their website is holding them back. But what actually separates a bad website—like a DIY builder or a cheap freelancer—from a professional one? Is the difference really that big?
Before I answer what actually makes a website a professional one let me first get this out of the way: Drag and Drop builders like Wix, Squarespace and Elementor are bad and even in the hands of someone who has some design skills will never create a good website. These platforms output bloated code and create slow sites. Your website performance is a key factor in ranking.
If you're curious Google provides a free tool to test if your site meets their performance and SEO standards. Side note your mobile score is particularly important because Google now prioritizes mobile-first indexing since the majority of traffic on the web is on a mobile device.
Now what actually makes a website good? A good website isn’t just about looking nice—it’s about getting results. And that requires expertise in multiple fields:
✅ User Experience (UX) & Design – Visitors should find what they need instantly without frustration.
✅ Copywriting – Words that sell, not just fill space.
✅ Development – Fast load times, SEO-friendly structure, and mobile responsiveness.
✅ SEO – Your site needs to rank, or no one will find you.
✅ Photography & Videography – High-quality visuals that builds trust and helps sell your services.
These are the things that will get you results and make you more money.

See the Difference?
Its more than just design.
Here’s Why This Website Works: A professional website isn’t just more aesthetically pleasing—it’s built with strategy. Every design choice was made to fix problems Rich faced with his old site and improve how he attracts and converts leads.
1️⃣ The Hero Section: No Wasted Space
The old website forced users to dig for basic information. Now, visitors land on the page and immediately see:
✅ Location & Years in Business – Establishes credibility right away.
✅ Tattoo Specialization – Answers the #1 question: “Is this the right artist for me?”
✅ Call-to-Action (CTA) – Directs users straight to the inquiry form—no hunting for how to book.
2️⃣ The Portfolio: Quality Over Quantity
Rich’s old site overloaded visitors with hundreds of images dumped on the homepage. It was cluttered, overwhelming, and made his best work hard to appreciate.Instead, we:
✅ Curated his best tattoos into a highlights carousel right below the hero section—quick and digestible.
✅ Created a dedicated portfolio page, categorized by tattoo style.
This way, visitors see his best work first without getting lost in an image overload. If they want more, they can browse by category instead of sifting through irrelevant styles.
3️⃣ Testimonials: Trust That Sells
The old site had zero social proof—a major issue. Tattoos are a big commitment, and people want to see real customer feedback before booking. We added a Google review widget that:
✅ Auto-updates with real reviews—so the site always looks fresh.
✅ Pulls directly from Google, which is far more credible than generic text reviews.
✅ Shows review dates, proving that Rich’s work is consistently good.
Clients trust recent, verified reviews over anything else. Now, visitors don’t just take Rich’s word for it—they see real proof that his work is high-quality and well-reviewed.
4️⃣ Professional Studio Photos: Selling the Experience
Tattoo sessions aren’t quick—clients can spend hours or even days in the studio. The old site didn’t show where they’d be spending that time, which left uncertainty in their minds. We shot professional studio photos to highlight:
✅ A clean, well-lit, and welcoming environment.
✅ A professional setup that makes clients feel comfortable before booking.
No one wants to get a tattoo in a dark, cramped, or uninviting space. Now, the website shows off the studio, eliminating concerns before they even arise.
5️⃣ About Me Section: Putting a Face to the Business
The old site had no photos of Rich. That’s a problem because people connect with people, not just services. We added:
✅ A photo of Rich tattooing a real client—this immediately builds trust and familiarity.
✅ A short bio about his passion for tattooing, making him more approachable.
This was especially important because some people still associate tattoo artists with intimidating stereotypes. By showing his face and work in action, we make new clients feel comfortable before they even reach out.
6️⃣ FAQ Section: Cutting Down Wasted Time
Rich wasted hours every week answering the same client questions over email. So we built a detailed FAQ section that:
✅ Covers everything—pricing, policies, appointment requirements.
✅ Filters out unqualified leads before they reach out.
Now, instead of answering the same questions over and over, Rich lets his website do the heavy lifting.
7️⃣ Inquiry Form: Pre-Qualifying Leads
Rich’s old process was a mess. He’d tell people on the site to email him, if they were serious he would send a inquiry form. But most inquiries were:
❌ Unserious leads wasting his time.
❌ Ignoring his process and expecting immediate tattoos.
❌ Forcing endless back-and-forth emails just to get basic information.
We fixed this by flipping it on its head and making the inquiry form the first step. Now:
✅ Only serious leads will complete the form to reach out.
✅ Clients must provide all required info upfront before submitting, no more back forth.
✅ The process is automated, he no longer has to manually retrieve their information.
Before, Rich would get "I want a tattoo tomorrow" emails (yes seriously) that led to back and worths that went no where. Now, leads follow his process, provide the necessary information, or don’t contact him at all—saving him hours of frustration.
To the untrained eye, it just looks "nicer to the eye" But in reality?
✅ Fewer time-wasting inquiries.
✅ Higher-quality leads.
✅ More bookings with less effort.
And thats just a basic tattoo shop, and we were able to make all those improvements. The bigger and more complex the business the even greater impact a professionally built website can make.

Website Design Questions
No, this is not something we offer. We find that most small business websites are either limited by the software they were built with or have so many issues that it's easier to just build a new one. If you like certain features or components of your current website, let us know, and we will make sure to include something similar in the new build.
We use WordPress (with a professional page builder called Bricks) and Webflow because they are the fastest and best way to build professional, high-performing websites. No other platform compares. We use Webflow for small brochure style sites and Wordpress for larger sites that need more functionality and content.
You can cancel or pause your subscription at any time, no questions asked. We don’t lock you into long-term contracts. If for any reason you need to pause or cancel, your website will go offline, but it won’t be deleted. You can reactivate it once you restart your subscription. You own the domain, all the content, and any leads. Canceling your membership won’t affect your ability to build a new website with your domain if you choose.
The timeline depends on the type of website and the functionality required. Generally, for a small brochure style website you can expect a first draft within 2-4 weeks. Revisions typically take an additional 1-2 weeks, so the total project time from start to finish can range from 4-6 weeks.
Yes, we do! However, if you are outside of our local area, you will need to pay for travel expenses, such as accommodation, flights, etc. We are based in Burlington, Vermont, so anywhere in the local area that wouldn’t require us to get overnight accommodation will incur no additional expenses. This includes most of New England and parts of upstate New York.
